NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
The Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission (MPHRC) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2026 MPHRC Bursary Program.
The bursary program is intended to assist students pursuing post-secondary education while recognizing their involvement, passion, and commitment to the harness racing industry in the Maritime Provinces.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a Canadian citizen.
- Be an active member of Standardbred Canada, or the spouse or child of an active Standardbred Canada member residing in one of the Maritime Provinces.
- Demonstrate a passion for harness racing.
- Be attending, or planning to attend, a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Not be pursuing a graduate degree.
Required Application Materials
Applicants must submit:
- A completed MPHRC Bursary Application.
- A copy of their most recent academic transcript.
- A typewritten essay entitled “Why Do You Love Canadian Harness Racing?”
- A minimum of two letters of reference from individuals involved in the harness racing industry who can speak to the applicant’s involvement and background in the sport.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
July 10, 2026
Successful applicants will be notified by August 15, 2026.
Successful applicants must provide proof of acceptance to a post-secondary institution prior to receiving bursary funds and agree to the use of their name and photograph for promotional purposes.
