The proposed May 1, 2026, implementation of the 5 and 5% automatic allocation policy for licensed trainers and licensed drivers in the Maritime region is on pause due to concerns raised by our partners and participants.

The Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission is committed to maintaining strong relationships and open communication with all stakeholders in the industry. As a result, consultations will be conducted with these groups to ensure all perspectives are considered.

A 90-day consultation period will begin on May 1, 2026. The Commission will be accepting written submissions and will be hosting in-person sessions with partners within the industry.

Further steps regarding this implementation will be determined following these discussions.
