Please be advised that the Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission (MPHRC) has approved, via formal Directive of the Commissioners, the mandatory implementation of direct deposit (Electronic Funds Transfer – EFT) systems for all purse payments issued by racetracks operating within the Maritime Provinces. This motion was adopted following review of industry feedback, and the Directive stands as written.
“Effective January 1, 2026, all racetracks must utilize direct deposit (EFT) as the sole method for issuing purse payments. Paper cheques will no longer be permitted for purse disbursements after December 31, 2025.”
Racetracks are responsible for ensuring all participants provide accurate and current banking information prior to the commencement of the 2026 racing season. Appropriate steps must be taken to verify and securely maintain this information in accordance with applicable privacy standards.
This Directive is intended to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of purse payment systems across all Maritime jurisdictions, while modernizing financial processes consistent with industry standards.
