APHRC Launches Investigation into Fatal Incident at Woodstock Raceway

The Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission (APHRC) is deeply saddened to confirm that a tragic accident occurred on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Woodstock Raceway in New Brunswick, resulting in the death of a young child who was struck by the starting gate during live racing.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the family, friends, and all those affected by this devastating loss. This is an unimaginable tragedy that has deeply impacted the harness racing community.

The APHRC is fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities as they conduct their investigation. In addition, the Commission has initiated its own internal review to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to assess any measures that can be taken to prevent anything like this from happening again.

We are also in active communication with Horse Racing New Brunswick and will continue to offer our support as the investigation unfolds.

Out of respect for the integrity of the ongoing investigation and the privacy of those affected, the APHRC will not be providing additional comment at this time. Further updates will be shared when appropriate.
